Marcon is an independent Project Management and Development Management consultancy based in the Northern Rivers Region of NSW. We focus on client side services and our advisory capabilities include design, construction, cost control, superintendency, project management and program management. Our team consists of highly skilled professionals who bring purpose and dedication to every project we undertake.

The team shares significant experience and a particular focus in the Northern Rivers Region of New South Wales. We understand the unique challenges and opportunities presented by this region – and we leverage our expertise to deliver exceptional results for our clients.

Marty Brennan (Managing Director & Project Director)

After 37 years in construction and a wealth of successful projects, Marty established Marcon following repeated requests from people seeking his invaluable expertise and advisory prowess. He brings extensive experience in development as a ‘man on the ground’ and a trusted partner with an outstanding track record in private, government and institutional sectors. Marty’s strong background in construction is key to the creative and innovative solutions he brings to project management.

Marty holds a QBCC Builders Licence (725180, Builder-Open), a NSW Fair Trading Contractors Licence (271095C) and is registered as a Building Practitioner – General (BUP00040508)

Conal Brennan (Director & Project Manager)

Conal is in the final year of his Bachelor of Construction Management (Hons) and has worked within the construction industry in varying capacities across Australia for over 8 years. He’s been involved in systems development and management and prides himself on delivering projects that meet profit targets and timelines. Conal’s strengths are his communication skills and the tenacity he brings to the Marcon team, managing all stakeholders with integrity and empathy. Conal has worked on some iconic projects including Elements of Byron and Victoria’s North East Link tunnel project.

Tom White (Project Manager)

Tom completed his Bachelor of Engineering (Structural) and quickly rose through the project management ranks, gaining a wealth of experience in project delivery across government and private sectors. With a strong focus on GC21, excellent construction and technical capabilities and a comprehensive understanding of contracts and their administration, Tom effectively allocates resources, organises schedules and ensures project objectives are reached on time and within budget.

Andrew Gillett (Project Manager)

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Urban Development (Hons) degree and has worked on major road projects between Ballina and the Sunshine Coast together with other large-scale government projects along the eastern seaboard. Through his work alongside Tier One builders on key infrastructure, Andrew has developed strong financial, commercial and quality control expertise and has crossed into the commercial sector as a consultant to ensure compliance and financial tracking within the framework of GC21 contracts.

Alex Robertson (General Manager)

Alex is a mechanical engineer with over 30 years experience across a number of industries. 10 years in the automotive industry and a Masters of Engineering from RMIT provided a platform of innovation and unique solutions framed by the practical world of product delivery. Problem solving and communication are key strengths and have been further enhanced during 15 years of commercial and residential construction in remote and regional Australia across all elements of the building cycle – development management, sales, design, engineering, tendering, contract management, cost management, project management, procurement, construction management & handover.

Darren Jarvis (Development Director)

Over the past 35 years, Darren has worked in major construction, transport, energy, and land developments both nationally and internationally. He has extensive experience and knowledge covering a diverse range of project management and development. Darren has been a Senior PM based in the Northern Rivers for over 10 years, typically he is responsible for, and leads the whole of development from concept to completion, including management of all authorities, design, finance, construction and sales. Some of his more recent projects include; Miles Residence Kirra Beach, Stages 1, 2 and 3 ($180m); Mixed use 5 Star Office Building ($15m), Specialist Disability Accommodation ($8m).

Robert Chilman (Senior Project Manager)

Over the past 40 years, Robert has worked in major construction, mining, energy and IT and business administration. He has extensive experience and knowledge covering a diverse range of project management and business administration areas. He has a sound understanding of building principles estimating, scheduling, cost control, earned value and business processes, complimented with human resource management and financial budgeting and reporting. Robert works well either as the team leader or as part of a team. He is outcome orientated and client focused.  His many years of construction experience include large commercial and infrastructure projects, new construction, fit out, refurbishments, outage management, project scheduling and maintenance. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Building/Chartered Builder and Member of the Australian Institute of Project Management.

  • Rekindling The Spirit, Facilities Upgrade

    Rekindling The Spirit, Facilities Upgrade

    Rekindling The Spirit (RTS) is an Aboriginal-owned corporation that provides an extensive range of professional health and well being services for the Aboriginal families of Lismore and surrounding areas. RTS have been awarded grants from the Aboriginal-owned Assets Program for property upgrades and better health services and support to Lismore.

    RTS provide critical health services from General Practitioners and medical specialists to a large range of allied health professionals, such as psychologists, dietitians, nursers and podiatrists.

    Marcon has been appointed to project manage the grant program to deliver much improved facilities that align with the needs of the community and staff. Stakeholder engagement is vitally important to prioritise a large range of needs and then align them with the grant guidelines. This will form the basis of a Principal Project Requirements document to engage consultants, create designs and solutions for a tender package for construction and ultimately delivery.
  • Eade, Byron Bay

    Eade, Byron Bay

    Set on a large 6,000 sqm site bounding Shirley Street, Milton Street and the the beach front near the heart of Byron Bay, Eade is a luxurious residential development comprising of 25 three bedroom apartments. An extensive single level 70 car basement and wellness centre provides parking, wellbeing and storage for the residents. The above ground complex has a 3 sperate buildings, situated around a central tropical garden and large communal pool. Built over 3 levels, each unit has their own private pool, with the Northern apartments having extensive views over Byron Bay, magnified from their private rook top gardens. Bespoke concrete baths & bench tops, micro-cement finishes, and high-end fixtures and fittings define a new standard for developments in Byron Bay.

    With the early civil works package commencing soon, Marcon has been appointed by Vitale Property Group to provide Development Management, Project Management and Superintendency. Demolition of the existing Backpackers will closely follow and construction is planned to commence towards the end of 2024.
  • Scout & Guide Hall Mullumbimby

    Scout & Guide Hall Mullumbimby

    Byron Shire Council is currently engaged in a deliberative process to determine the optimal strategy and outcomes for the Old Scout Hall on Burringbar Street, Mullumbimby after the Flood Event of February 2022 and its impact on the building and surrounds.

    In response to a site inspection of the affected area, Town Planning advice has affirmed that the necessary works will trigger a Development Application. However, the exact scope of these works remains pending, contingent upon further investigations and comprehensive reports.

    Marcon has been entrusted with the responsibility to identify and engage the appropriate experts. Working closely with the Byron Shire Council, our task involves appointing a diverse array of consultants to undertake the requisite assessments. Subsequently, these consultant reports will furnish us with the insights needed to provide informed recommendations on the optimal strategy moving forward. This includes aspects such as design considerations, Authority Approvals, tender processes, and eventual construction activities, all aligned with the desired scope of works.

    As we embark on this collaborative endeavour, our objective remains focused on delivering solutions that not only address the challenges posed by the flood event but also contribute to the long-term resilience and functionality of the Old Scout Hall and its surrounding environment.
  • Rous County Council

    Rous County Council

    In June 2021 the Rous County Councill acquired the former Thursday Plantation site located at 57 Gallans Road, Ballina NSW. The intention is to relocate the merged council headquarters to the site. After extensive due diligence this move has now been approved and construction on the site may begin.

    Marcon are delighted to be working alongside Rous County Council as Project Managers to manage the procurement of this new facility and appoint a builder to deliver the project.

    Construction is due to start early 2024.

    Peggy's Place

    Peggy’s Place is a refuge dedicated to addressing the urgent need for secure environments for women and their children. Its primary goal is to provide a transitional space where they can escape homelessness and the threat of violence. Serving as a crucial intermediary step after leaving a refuge, Peggy's Place offers temporary accommodation and support to families who are not yet ready for independent living.
  • The Bonobo by Raes

    The Bonobo by Raes

    The development is a unique hotel-apartment concept offering guests the space and luxury of an apartment with the service and atmosphere of a 5-star hotel.

    Marcon is proud to be working with Podia as their local Byron Bay Project Manager for their visionary new hotel-apartment development, The Bonobo by Raes.

    From the team behind Raes on Wategos, this collection of 41 two, three and four-bedroom hotel-apartments promises an alternative to traditional holiday homes with an elevated experience for guests.

    The building's design comes from renowned architects Richards & Spence, known for their landmark work including The Calile Hotel in Brisbane.

    With construction entrusted to Lahey Constructions and well underway, we are committed to delivering exceptional results as we oversee the successful delivery of The Bonobo by Raes.
